India is the only place where we can find different
kinds of miracles, mysterious. And some of the miracles are even not derived by
scientists. There are many places that have their mythological beliefs. And
today I will tell you about one of those places.
Sheetla Mata temple is situated in Pali(Rajasthan).
It is a Hindu temple of sheetla mata. So, basically, Sheetla Mata is worship
mostly in north India. According to Hindu mythology when God performs a fire
ceremony for Durga Mata from that fire sheetla mata came up and sat on a donkey
and as her weapon the goddess has a broom, pot full of water. From Shiva's
sweat, a creature born named 'Jwarasura' spread deadly diseases but Sheetla
mata got control over him and made him her servant. Sheetla mata is a seasonal
goddess. On the occasion of Sheetla Saptami, people wake up early in the
morning and then have a bath with cold water and even eat cold food. Sheetla
means one who is cool.
Why
are we discussing this temple?
This temple has a pot that is covered by a stone
slab. And two times a year this slab is removed from the pot and the locality
fills that pot with water but water can't ever reach the top of the pot.
From
how long this is happening.
From 800 Years this is happening, the local people
of the area remove the slab and start to fill the pot but water can't reach to the top. And this activity has been going on for 800years.
When
do the people of the area open the pot?
Two times a year, the slab is removed from the pot.
These two times are
1- Sheetla Saptami and
2- full moon day of may month.
Till
now how much water filled in the pot.
This pot consists of 50lakh liter of water.
Is
there any other liquid which fills the pot?
According to the people, the milk which is served to
the goddess fills the pot.
When a lot of water is filled then the priest drops
some milk in the pot and then closes the pot with the help of a stone slab.
The
main question
What
is the story or reason behind it?
Around 800years ago, there was a monster named
'barbara'. This creature terrorizes the villagers (mainly brahmins). At any
wedding, he killed the broom. After getting anxious from the monster, villagers
started to austenite the goddess Sheetla Mata. After that Sheetla Mata came
into a dream of a villager and she told him that at his daughter's wedding she would
kill the monster. At his daughter's wedding, she was presented and successfully knocked
down by her knee. At the last moment of his life, he asked Sheetla Mata that in
the summer season he needs a lot of water so two times a year gave him some
water. And the goddess accepted it. From then this activity is going on. And all
the people believe that the pot never fills because of the monster.
So
if you like it and enjoy reading the tales, you must visit this place and you
