Mcleodganj: The City of Hills

Mcleodganj is one of the most famous Hill Station in India. It is a small town which is 3km away from Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. This hill station is home for many Tibetans. This place is also known as ‘Little Lhasa’ or ‘Dhasa’ ( A short form of Dharamshala which is mainly used by Tibetans). This town is situated on The Dhauladhar Range (The White Range).

About Mcleodganj

The Mcleodganj is especially famous for the pilgrimage of Buddhists or you can say The spiritual gateway for the Buddhists people. The reason behind this is that this town is the home of the 14^th Dalai Lama of the Buddhists. He came here in 1960 after his exile from Tibet.

Due to his presence in Mcleodganj it attracts many tourist and pilgrimage to this town, also here in the town you can see the real lifestyle of Tibetan Buddhists and monks also you can see the glimpses of Dalai Lama on the occasions. In this town, many Buddhist festivals are celebrated. Tourists came here and enjoy these festivals.

Things You Can Do In Mcleodganj  

Apart from spirituality, Mcleodganj is also an adventures hub. People who like adventures can visit this beautiful place.

Here you can do trekking which is famous among adventurers. The trek is full of mesmerizing views. The Triund Trek is one of the famous treks in Mcleodganj. It is the base camp of the famous hill which starts from Dharamkot, Mcleodganj. This 9km trek leads through the forest of Deodar, Oak and Rhododendron.

Apart from the Trekking Mcleodganj has also some places to visit.

Bhagsunath Temple:

It is one of the famous temple in Macleodganj. This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and having major tourist attraction especially Hindu Pilgrimages.

Bhagsu Waterfall:

This waterfall is the major tourist attraction in Dharamshala this waterfall is just right through the Bhagsunath Temple.

The Bhagsu Waterfall has eye-pleasing view and gives you some taste of real nature. Those who want to spend some time in peace have must visit this place.

Namgyal Monastery:

The Monastery is to be believed to be the home place of the 14^th Dalai lama ( The spiritual leader of Buddhist ). The Namgyal Monastery is the Largest monastery outside the Tibet, it is also reffered as the ‘Dalai Lama Temple’ as it is the personal monastery of the Dalai Lama. This Monastery offers serenity and ambiance which attracts many tourists even those who do not believe in any religion.

Best Time To visit Mcleodganj

The best time to visit Mcleodganj is in between October to June. You should avoid visiting this place during the monsoon due to heavy rainfalls which affect your travel.

With lots of beauty and mesmerizing view, this is the place where you can enjoy the real feel of ‘The Great Himalayas’.
