We all have a spiritual feeling inside us. But we all are divided based on religion. And all religions have their own holy places, where we go and show our devotion to all the mighties.

Badrinath Temple is one of the Hindu holy places. Badrinath is located in the Uttarakhand district. Badrinath temple is located on Garhwal Himalayas, at the Bank of Alaknanda River.

Alaknanda river is one of the two headwaters of river Ganga.

Badrinath temple is one of the Chardham and one of the Panch Badri. Even though it is one of the 108 Divya Desams(devoted to Lord Vishnu).

This temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu (The Preserver) and is also known as Narayana. Badrinath temple was destroyed many times due to earthquakes and snow slides, but was re-established by Adi Shankara.

Shankar found a black stone image of badrinarayan on saligram stone in Alaknanda river.The statue (murti) of Badrinath in Badrinath temple was in a cave of Tapt Kund( hot spring) and after that the king of Garhwal moved the statue and placed the statue in Badrinath temple (its original place).

There is a temple around 3km away from Badrinath temple which is called Mata Murti

Temple and it is believed that this temple is the mother of Nara and Narayana (an avatar of Lord Vishnu).

The most celebrated festival in Badrinath is Mata Murti Ka Mela, this festival is dedicated to the holy river or Mother Ganga who came to encourage the growth of the earth.

Badri Kedar is also a festival which is celebrated in both the temples Badrinath and Kedarnath in the month of June for eight days.



Best Time To Visit Badrinath

Best time to visit Badrinath is between April to November. And for the next six months, Badrinath temple closed down due to harsh climatic conditions.

PANDAVAS

At the end of Mahabharat, Pandavas passed Badrinath to reach Swargarohini (heaven). 

Akhanda Jyoti, at the time to close Badrinath temple(during winters) the main priest lit the lamp which is full of ghee and it burns for the next six months and for this miracle or thing, it is considered as a tourist spot.

People over there say that it remains lit till the reopening of the temple.

TAPT KUND

There is also a place called Tapt Kund, it is a natural hot spring where you can relax and by one dip under the water, all your physical pain will be gone.

From Badrinath, you can start trekking and for trekking, there are various places like Satopanth Trek, Mana Pass Trek and many more.

Even though Badrinath town is located between the Nara and the Narayana mountains and other mountains like Neelkantha peak and Nanda Devi, there are many mountains.

How to reach Badrinath?

Nearest Railway Station: The nearest railway station from Badrinath is Rishikesh Railway Station which is 295kms from Badrinath. Trains to Rishikesh are frequent and also Badrinath is well connected through road from Rishikesh taxis and buses are always available in this route.

Nearest Airport: The nearest airport from Badrinath is Jolly Grant airport, Dehradun which is 314 km from Badrinath. Badrinath is well connected with roads from Dehradun taxis and buses are easily available from Jolly Grant Airport.

By Road: The Badrinath is well connected through roads with major cities of Uttrakhand like Haridwar, Dehradun (The capital city of Uttrakhand), Rudraprayag, Rishikesh, Pauri and Ukhimath. Taxis and Buses are easily available from these destinations.
