Have you ever heard about a friendly ghost? Yeah! Friendly ghost.  Most of you will say that you have never seen a ghost in your life, even I also never seen a ghost in my life. But this time I’m going to tell you about a ghost that is friendly to people.

The Barog Tunnel or Tunnel No. 33 is in Shimla and is the longest straight tunnel in the railways. This Tunnel is on the Shimla-Kalka route. The interesting fact about this tunnel is that it is believed to be that it is a haunted tunnel.

Let’s Talk about the story behind this haunted Tunnel.

Kalka-Shimla Railway

Barog is a hill station in the Solan district. This beautiful hill station lies on UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this place, there is a famous tunnel named The Barog Tunnel, which is believed to be haunted. This tunnel was named after Colonel Barog the one on whom this horror story is based.

In 1898, There was a British Railway Engineer named Colonel Barog was assigned to construct a tunnel in this region and also he was ordered to complete this task at a particular time. So he did much calculation and order his workers to dig up from both sides so that they could meet in the middle and the work is finished in the given time.

But this could not happen, they won’t meet in the middle of the due to fewer mistakes in the colonel’s calculation. When the British authorities came to know about this incident, they fired him from this job and also fined him for humiliating government property. This incident makes Colonel feels embarrassed and he commits suicide by shot himself in the tunnel.

When the locals came to know about this incident, they became sad after seeing this and decided to bury his body outside the tunnel to pay tribute to his work and here the haunting story of Colonel Barog begins. The locals believed that Colonel did not leave this place after his death, his spirit is present in this tunnel. The people say that they saw his spirit often visiting this tunnel and suddenly vanished after a while and some of them listen to spooky noises from this tunnel which makes everyone frightened. And the scariest thing is that sometimes he even chats with people because they’re unaware of him but those who know get frightened.

Even Today these paranormal activities happened and some tourist gets spooked out due to these horrifying activities. The government tries many times to seal this tunnel, but every time they found that the lock was broken. It seems like Colonel does not want to close this tunnel.

But there is an interesting fact in this horror story that the spirit of the Colonel is harmless, it does not harm people That's why it is said that he is friendly to everyone. And one more thing is that his spirit is still present in this tunnel after so many years of his death. Even you can feel his presence in the atmosphere of the tunnel.
