Kalimath Temple

Have you ever tried to explore India? If you don't then you should start doing it, the reason behind this is because in India every place has a history and some are told and some don't. And like that, I gathered some knowledge about the place in Uttarakhand.

The place or village in Uttarakhand is known as KALIMATH.

Kalimath is in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Kalimath is a divine place that is full of devotees and a holy vibe. It is also one of the Shakti Peeth. Shakti Peeth is the pilgrimage of goddesses and there are 51 Shakti Peethas. There is a story of this Shakti Peethas, in which the Sati, the wife of Shiva was cut into 51 parts and these parts are known as Shakti Peethas.

The actual or original name of kalimath is Kavitha.

Kalimath is surrounded by the peaks of Kedarnath and even it is on a height and below that river, Saraswati flows.

Kalimath is mainly devoted to the goddess Kali, but it is also true that this is where the three sisters Kali, Laxmi, and Saraswati are worshiped together. Kali's upperpart is worshipped in Dhari Devi is also situated in Uttarakhand in Kalyasaur.

In Kalimath, the other remaining part of kali is worshipped. Kalimath is famous because (i) the only place where three sisters are worshipped together. (ii) here Kali killed the monster Raktavija and then she went under the earth. When we worship any holy deity, we usually worship their statues. But here the Shri Yantra( means a diagrammatic sort of image used as an object to worship) is worshiped. The statue of Kali is brought out once a year from the ground and that too in the midnight and then the priest worships the statue and only the chief minister is allowed there. There is also a person named BARTIBABA, people usually met him and some of them said that he had a direct connection with Kali maa.

Best Time To Visit Kalimath:

According to me, there is no particular time to visit the holy mighties but place plays the main role, so to visit kalimath you should go in summers in the months of April to June. As it would be safe to do all the research about the weather and then proceed to the trip. The main festival of that place. As it is a goddess place the suitable festival is Navratri. I heard a lot about it that it is celebrated very well and according to Hindu tradition, basically, Navratri is the time when we must have to visit the temple of kali and other goddesses.

 How to reach kalimath?

Kalimath is surrounded by Kedarnath, Ukhimath, Rishikesh and Dehradun. So it is easy to reach there. Even the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun ( The Capital City of Uttrakhand).

There is a special area for the rest of the visitors, it is 6km away from kalimath and it is a small Dharamshala. Open for all. Not only you can visit the kalimath but with it, you can travel to Gaurikund- 40kms takes 2hrs
