India is famous for its beautiful hill station. Here in this blog, we are going to talk about one of these hill stations which is famous among trekkers.

Kufri – is a resort hill station which is situated 20km from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. Kufri is surrounded by beautiful Himalayan ranges which makes this place more attractive. The named Kufri is derived from the word Kufr which means lake in the local language. This place was founded in 1819 by Britishers, this place gains its popularity as a hill station in the last few decades.

Kufri is famous among trekkers. Kufri is the starting point of the treks to Manali, Shimla, Fagu, and Rawal. Kufri along with Shimla and Chail forms the Golden Triangle of Himachal Pradesh.

Summers in Kufri:
Kufri has a cool and pleasant climate in the months of summer. The summer starts in April and lasted until June. In this month Kufri receives some short spells of rain which makes this place more beautiful. This is like heaven for nature enthusiasts.

Winter in Kufri:

The winter month in Kufri starts in October and ended in March. This time this beautiful hill station is covered with beautiful snow and frost which makes the environment extremely cold.

Monsoon in Kufri

The  Monsoon in Kufri starts in July and ended in September. At this time the temp in Kufri fails to a fairly low level.

More About Kufri

Kufri is the venue for winter sports. The annual winter sports festival is held in the month of February. This sports festival was organized by the travel and tourism department of Himachal Pradesh. The festival is famous among tourists. The skiing competition is the main sports event at this festival. This festival has also other sports like Tobagging ( Tobogganing is the sport in which you slide down in snow-covered slopes on a runner-less sled ). Kufri has the oldest skiing slopes.

Flora and Fauna in Kufri

Kufri is heaven for nature-loving people and wildlife lovers as it's situated in the Himalayas so it is rich in flora and fauna.

The Himalayan National Park is situated on the outskirts of the town. This Park has 180 varieties of flora and fauna such as thick forests of pines and deodars which makes this place stunning.

·       Hip Hip Hurray National Park

This amusement park is proper destination for families. It has adventurous activities, rock climbing, flying fox, and Burma bridge. This Park also has restaurants, coffee shops, and gist shops. This park has a telescope that can be used to see the beautiful landscape of Kufri.

The Hip Hip Hurray amusement park is spread over an area of 5000 sq km which offers adventures activities, thrilling rides, virtual reality games, bumping boats, and many other fun activities.

·       Kufri Wildlife Zoo:

Another beautiful place in Kufri where you can enjoy is Kufri Wildlife Zoo.

It is located in Kufri. This zoo is spread over 1000 sq ft of the area which is surrounded by natural beauty. This zoo is home to uncommon Antelopes, various types of cats, deer, bears, and snow leopards and birds including the Himalayan Molan which is the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. It safeguards Himalayan nature and exhibits the biodiversity of Kufri.

In Kufri most restaurants are in the main market area. The streets of Kufri are full of fast food the corner you can find various types of stalls there they serve tasty pakoras, paranthas, chat, noodles, and many more tasty and delicious fast foods. In restaurants, you can find various types of dishes such as Indian, Chinese, Italian etc.

By Road: Roads are well connected to Kufri through small towns and public buses are easily available from Shimla.

Nearest Railway Station: The nearest railway station from Kufri is Shimla Railway Station which is 15km away and Kalka Railway station which is 100km away from Kufri. From there you can hire a taxi or board a public to reach Kufri.

Nearest Airport: The nearest airport from Kufri is Jubarhatti airport in Shimla which is 15km away but there is one problem this airport only accommodates a limited number of lights in a week so for this, you have to go to Chandigarh airport which is 140 km away from Kufri. The buses and taxis are easily available from Chandigarh airport to reach Kufri.
