The Mana is a village in the district of Chamoli in the Indian State of Uttrakhand. The Mana village is considered as the last village of India from the border of India and Tibet/China in the Himalayas. This village is nominated as a ‘Tourism Village’ by the Uttrakhand government. This village is just 5km away from the Badrinath Temple. The Badrinath Temple is one of the most visited pilgrimage centers of India. The village is situated on the banks of the river Saraswati at a height of around 3219 meters and it is surrounded by The Great Himalayan Mountains.

Religious Significance of Mana

The village is believed to be the place that is related at the time of Mahabharata. It is believed that Pandavas (the five great warriors of Mahabharata) passed through Mana village during their journey for Heaven. There is a famous Pul called Bhim Pul which is believed to be created by Bhim (one of the five brothers among Pandavs ).

About people living in Mana

The people who are living in Mana village are called Bhotias      ( Mongol Tribes ). The people live in small cottages which are decorated and carved beautifully. When you visited this place you found that most of the shops have their common names like the tea stall of the last village of India etc.

Places to visit in Mana

 Neelkanth Peak: The Neelkanth The peak which is situated at a height of 6,597m above sea level and also it is one of the major tourist attraction. This peak is also known as ‘Queen of Garhwal’. You can see the beautiful view of Badrinath Temple from this Peak.

Tapt Kund: This Tapt Kund is a natural spring and for Hindus, it is believed to be the Holy Place of Lord Agni. This Kund is believed to be having medicinal properties the water of this Kund cures many diseases. This Tapt Kund is visited by many travelers throughout the year.

Mata Murti Temple: This Temple is devoted to the mother of Lord Narayan. The Temple holds an annual fair in the month of August.

Vyas Gufa: The Ved Vyas is the writer of the epic ‘The Mahabharata’. It is believed to be that he lived here while composing the four Vedas. The interesting thing about this cave is that there is a small temple of Ved Vyas and is believed to be more than 5000 years old.

Vasudhara: It is a beautiful waterfall which is 9km away from Badrinath Temple and it is believed that Pandavas stay there for some time, during their exile.

Bheem Pul: This Bheem Pul is also one of the major tourist attractions. It is believed that Bheem ( one of the five brothers among Pandavs ) created this Pul near the river Saraswati so that her wife Draupadi could cross this river easily.

The Mana Village is a beautiful village and the village is considered one of the best places for trekking in India. Here are some treks which is famous among the tourist:

·       Mana to Vasudhara: The trekking from Mana to Vasudhara is one of the best experiences for people who like adventures. It takes two hours from Mana to Vasudhara for trekking. The path of this trekking is full of beautiful scenarios.

·       Mana to Satopanth: The trek from Mana to Satopanth is just 3km away from Badrinath. The trek is full of tough stones and due to this, you have to take care of yourself during trekking. The Satopanth Tal is a lake which is nestled at an altitude of 4,600mts above sea level.

·       Mana to Mana Pass: This Trek lies on a mountain Pass in the Himalayas on the border of India and Tibet. The Mana Pass is the source of the river Saraswati. This Pass has Deotal lake and from this lake, the river Saraswati originates. This Pass is not open for civilians you have to take special permission from the administration before trekking. This Pass gives you an amazing view of Chaukhamba mountain of Garhwal Himalayan range.



How to reach Mana Village:

Mana village is connected with Haridwar/Rishikesh and it is only 5km away from Badrinath Temple. The nearest Railway Station is located in Hardwar which is 275km away from the village and from there you can take a bus or taxi to reach Mana. The nearest Airport from the Mana Village is the Jolly Grant Airport which is situated at Dehradun. The distance from Dehradun to Mana village is approx 319km.
